Haku Support

Help for the writing ritual, privacy controls, Haku Leaf, restore purchases, and support contact.

Contact Support

For help with Haku, contact hello@haku.ink.

Please do not include private writing content in your support message. Haku support does not need your private writing to help with app issues.

Helpful details can include:

  • your device model,
  • iOS version,
  • Haku app version,
  • the screen you were on,
  • what you expected to happen,
  • what happened instead, and
  • whether Haku Leaf, iCloud sync, or privacy modes were involved.

Restore Purchases

If you bought Haku Leaf and need to restore it:

  1. Open Haku.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Tap Restore Purchases.
  4. Make sure you are signed in with the Apple ID used to buy Haku Leaf, or an Apple ID connected through Family Sharing if Family Sharing applies.

If no purchase is found, check whether the purchase was made with a different Apple ID. If restore fails, wait a moment and try again. App Store purchase status can depend on Apple's systems and network availability.

Refunds

App Store purchases and refunds are handled by Apple. To request a refund, use Apple's Report a Problem page.

App Store Link

Haku's App Store page is not public yet. When the listing is live, the download buttons on this site will point directly to Apple's App Store.

Basics

What is Haku?

Haku is a private expressive-writing app. You write on a blank page, then press and hold to clear the words. After the page clears, it is fresh again.

Does Haku save what I write?

No. Haku does not intentionally save, transmit, log, analyze, or use your writing content. When you press and hold to clear the page, Haku clears its writing buffer.

What stays in History?

If History is on, Haku can keep a small mark each time you clear the page. A mark can show the date and selected symbol. It is not the writing itself.

Privacy Summary

  • Your writing is not saved by Haku.
  • Your writing is not uploaded to Haku servers.
  • Your writing is not analyzed for mood, meaning, ads, or analytics.
  • History keeps only mark metadata.
  • If Haku Leaf iCloud sync is enabled, only mark metadata syncs through your iCloud account.
  • Third-party keyboards are blocked by default.
  • Haku does not require a Haku account.
  • The Haku website may use PostHog for page and App Store button analytics.

iOS and system text-entry frameworks may briefly hold text in memory while you type. Haku clears its own writing buffer and does not add a saved copy of its own.

Privacy Modes

App-switcher cover

When app-switcher cover is enabled, Haku helps hide its content when you leave the app. This helps keep your writing out of the iOS app switcher snapshot.

Face-down or covered hide

When enabled, Haku can dim or hide the page when your device is laid face-down or covered.

Face ID or passcode reveal

If available and enabled, Haku can require authentication before revealing hidden content again.

Privacy modes are privacy aids, not absolute guarantees. They cannot control every system behavior, physical environment, or device-level setting.

Haku Leaf and iCloud Sync

Haku's core writing experience, history, and privacy controls are free. Haku Leaf is a one-time unlock for optional appearance choices and iCloud history sync.

Only history mark metadata syncs through iCloud. Your writing content does not sync.

Purchases are handled by Apple's App Store systems. Haku does not process your payment details directly.
